The Amazing Nature of Public Art
I am always delighted, when walking or driving, to find public art. Recently there has been has been a regeneration of wall art in the area where I live, thanks to a city ordinance inked a quarter of a century ago. I marvel at the ability of these artists to capture the detail on such a massive scale. I am showcasing a few I have found recently. My hope is that others will seek them out and stand in awe of the artists’ vision, determination, and ability.
Incorporating the space…
I am particularly taken when the many facets of a building are incorporated into the design so that the image changes depending on the angle one views it.
Here is another amazing example where the artist used all the nooks and crannies of the building to give the art depth and interest.
Fun and fabulous finds…
It is always delightful to locate and capture the fanciful art that dots urban areas. Here are a few more:
Going for the gusto…
For the real wow factor, I found this stunning mural on the side of a couple of silos. Taking the picture was a challenge as the image can be seen while on a highway crossing a bridge. My husband, understandably, chose not to slow down this time to indulge my art collecting. After a steady stream of clicks between metal bridge compartments, and some deep (I mean deep) cropping, I was satisfied that this shot captured the beauty of the art and the grittiness of the locale.
Walking with a camera is a great way to exercise and experience beauty. I hope you have enjoyed my walk about (and in some cases, drive about). Feel free to add comments, pictures, or suggestions on where to search for urban art.
