In a previous post, The Art of the Walk, I confessed an aversion to exercise, especially the type of exercise that is done in gyms. I explored ways to enjoy the tedious process of putting one foot in front of the other. One was walking with a camera. I have decided to showcase the amazing art I have found during these trips. I thought others might enjoy the varied artists, mediums, and styles as well…

When my husband and I walked around downtown Jacksonville, we came across a variety of art – murals, brass sculptures, and banners surrounding pillars. We also stumbled upon Sweet Pete’s, a candy store cafe where we stopped for an amazing brunch. Can you say Lemon Ricotta Pancakes?

Another walk in downtown Jacksonville – but this time we did some walking inside the Museum of Modern Art. Too cool!
Two artists of note from gallery above:
- Ann Hamilton: I really enjoyed the table of white shirts, check out her amazing work at Ann Hamilton Studio.
- Tara Donovan: There were 2 exhibits by the talented artist. The second was an entire wall of plastic straws laying on their sides. The image would change as you walked by it, based on your perspective. Beautiful. Check out the slide show on the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston website.

Now that I am consciously looking for art on my walks, I am taking new paths, walking longer, and looking forward to the displays.
Tweet pictures of your found art to #anencorelife@mimi_holman, #artofthewalk. I will showcase them here.
