The Art of the Walk – The Park, the Spark

Whimsical Design

The amount of public art that exists amazes me. And my plan to get excited about exercise is working. I look forward to walking with my camera, ever on the lookout for art, in any medium. Here is the art I have found while exercising in April.

Park Art…

I have shown the Memorial Park statue in another post, but this one shows the interesting figures that adorn the globe. We also found children’s’ art. A bunny for Easter, perhaps?

Urban Art…

Another walk downtown brought these five beauties to my collection.

Sweet Pete's Chandeliers
Modern Obelisk
Phoenix Rising
Firing up businesses? Located in front of the Chamber of Commerce.

One Spark Art…

This year marked the third anniversary for One Spark, a crowd-sourcing fair held over several days in Jacksonville, FL. People with big and little ideas vie for attention. Musicians and artists amass. Here are some of my favorite images…

Is this Keith Haring's ghost again?

Wall art…

While enjoying a brew at a local Irish Pub, my husband and I spied these two looking down on us….but we didn’t give a hoot.

Owl eyes upon us

Airport Art…

Airports are becoming places to view spectacular art. On a recent trip through O’Hare airport, the dwindling power on my phone only allowed me one shot.

Newspaper Box Art…

And finally, I came across these beautiful ballerinas adorning a newspaper box in the San Marco area…

Ballerinas dancing across the news…

It has been a beautiful start to spring. More walking to do. More art to see.
